Hey guys! It's Dez! Just thought that I would contribute a Halloween story.
Here it goes....
When it got hot in the valley, Tom and Al would take their cows to a cool, green pasture in the mountains. Usually they would stay there with the cows for 2 months, then return to the valley. The work was easy, but boring as hell. All day they would tend to the cows, then at night return to their little hut to eat, and sleep.
One night Tom got an idea that would soon change everything. "Let's make a doll the size of a man," he said. "It would be fun, and we can put it in the garden to scare the birds." "It will look like Jimmy," Al said. Jimmy was a well-hated farmer in the valley. They made the doll, and it looked exactly like Jimmy. The doll had Jimmy's eyes, nose, hair color, and of course Jimmy's name.
Each morning on their way to the pasture, they would stick the doll to a pole, and put him in the garden. Each night they brought him inside so that he wouldn't get damaged if it rained. One night Tom and Al were feeling playful. So they would talk to Jimmy. "How are the veggies growing today?" Then the other guy would pretend to be Jimmy and say, "Very slowly." Tom and Al would then laugh hysterically.
They would also take out frustrations on Jimmy. Blame the doll for mishaps, and throw food at him. "How do you like that stew, Jimmy?" Al would ask. "U better finish it all." Both men would then laugh hysterically. One night, Tom wiped Jimmy's face, and the doll grunted. "Did you hear that?" Al asked. "It was Jimmy," Tom said. " I was watching him when it happened...I can't believe it."
Scared, the men put the doll in the corner of the hut. They didn't take him outside, or talk to him anymore. Now and then the doll would grunt, but that was all. After a couple days, the men thought that a mouse or some insects got into the doll. So the guys went back to their old ways. They would put Jimmy in the garden, bring him in at night, talk to him, and throw food at him.
One night, Al noticed something. Jimmy was starting to grow. "I was thinking the same thing," said Tom. "I think we have been in the mountains too long," said Al. The next morning while they were eating, Jimmy stood up and walked out of the hut. He climbed onto the roof, and walked back and forth. All day and all night this would go on. In the morning, the doll would climb down, and would stand in the pasture. The men were scared and didn't know what to do next.
That same day they took the cows to the valley. When they left, Jimmy was no where to be found. Both men felt they escaped great danger, and began to kid around again. But when they had traveled a mile or so, they realized they didn't have the milking stools. Neither one wanted to go back, so they drew straws. Tom was the lucky soul to venture back. "I'll catch up with you man," Tom said. Al walked on toward the valley.
When Al came to a rise in the path he looked back toward the hut. He didn't see Tom, but he saw Jimmy. The doll was on the roof of the hut again. As Al watched, the doll kneeled down and stretched out a bloody piece of skin to dry in the sun.
