Many Moons ago Jack's DAD and I lived in Solebury in a VERY old house dating back to the revolutionary war...it had over time been added onto but the original section was that old. It is important to point out that this house was only ONE room wide and thus very long. AND there was NO WAY you could move from room to room with out being seen eventually by anyone else in the house. Almost daily we would hear someone walking up stairs (the floor was plank boards so it was easy to hear movement). Yet when we investigated NO ONE was there?!? What made it a little unnerving was when the cat would run down the hall and obviously detour around nothing then run like mad down the steps meowing with it's back up and the hair on it's tail standing out! OR when Jack's DAD would holler out in the night cause someone was poking him in the back (Wasn't me...I slept on the opposite side).
At the same house, we always found things moved around when we got home from work things that neither one of us had moved: books, candle sticks, "sit around" stuff all on the move?!?
AND. This house had a long side porch and on the porch I had small wooden tables with antique agate pots sitting on top. We used to sit out there and read the paper in the evening and the agate pots would start to move ...you could see them move...then they began to rattle back and forth gaining momentum till they rattled themselves onto the floor with a clatter! Nothing else was moving ...we weren't have an earth quake...nothing else was shaking ...just the pots! When we would pick them up and put them back on the tables it would start again...it got soooooo bad that I finally put the pots in a box in the basement. There is a great little paperback book called "Ghosts in The Valley" which contains ghost stories from Doylestown to New Hope.
